The Bowden Pen Farmers Association is a Community Based Organization in the Upper Rio Grande Valley. The Association was started 1995 as a loosely coordinated gathering, which with appropriate training of members facilitated by the Rural Agricultural Association (RADA St. Thomas) and the Jamaica Conservation & Development Trust (JCDT), the group was formalized in 2002 and became known as the Bowden Pen Farmers Association Ltd.
The Association currently has a membership of 27 persons who are divided into two (2) livelihood streams - Agriculture and Tourism. These activities were linked together to enhance the income generation capacity of group members and the tourism business operated by members of the Association.
The Association built the Ambassabeth Cabins to give visitors a small taste of the way of life in rural Jamaica (albeit a significantly more comfortable one).
